STUDIO POLICIES
STUDIO INFORMATION, BILLING & POLICIES
Invoices containing a detailed breakdown of lesson tuition, books, and any additional charges will be emailed on the first day of each month. Tuition is due upon receipt of the invoice and will either be charged to the debit card on file or requested via Zelle. A receipt will be provided once payment has been received.
Tuition reserves a recurring lesson time each week and is based on enrollment rather than attendance.
For voice students, the studio offers an optional Student Recording Program. This service includes professionally recorded practice tracks throughout the year and is available for an annual fee of $295 per student.
LATE PAYMENT POLICY: Tuition payments made via Zelle are due upon receipt of the invoice. Any unpaid balance remaining after the last day of the billing month will incur a $25 late fee, which will be added to the following month's tuition invoice. A $25 late fee will continue to be assessed monthly until the outstanding balance is paid in full.
TUITION RATES: Tuition rates are based on a four-week month. Families receiving two or more hours of lessons per week will receive a 5% family discount. Discounts apply to the combined lesson time of all family members. Tuition will be prorated for students who enroll mid-month.

MUSIC MATERIALS & INSTRUMENT PURCHASES:
To ensure there is no delay in learning, all necessary lesson, technique, and theory books may be assigned by the instructor as needed and billed through the studio on the following month's tuition invoice. Books will be charged at their retail price and will only be assigned if deemed essential by the instructor or requested by the student or parent.
Additional repertoire may be purchased through Musicnotes.com at a 15% discount whenever available. Before purchasing music, the studio will first attempt to source materials through our existing Musescore, IMSLP, and chord chart libraries whenever possible.
Families interested in purchasing a keyboard or other starter instrument are encouraged to review our recommendations at www.thewondernote.com/recs. Instruments on or off this list may be available for purchase through the studio at a minimum discount of 10%.
MAKEUPS, CANCELLATIONS & ATTENDANCE:
Weekly lesson enrollment reserves a recurring lesson time and does not permit skipping individual weeks. Students may begin or discontinue lessons at any time in accordance with the studio's withdrawal policy.
Lessons canceled at least eight (8) hours in advance are eligible for a makeup lesson token. Cancellations may be submitted through the student portal, by email, or by text message. In the event of an emergency, cancellations may be made by phone call or text to Hana Kim at (310) 650-3968.
Failure to attend a scheduled lesson without notice will be considered a no-show. No-show lessons are forfeited and are not eligible for a makeup lesson.
The studio does not impose a maximum limit on the number of makeup lesson tokens a student may accumulate. However, makeup lesson tokens remain valid only while a student is actively enrolled in lessons.
Upon withdrawal from the studio, all unused makeup lesson tokens will expire on the student's final scheduled lesson date and may not be redeemed thereafter. Families are encouraged to schedule any remaining makeup lessons prior to their final lesson.
Makeup lesson tokens may be used with any instructor, subject to availability, may be transferred to immediate family members, may be combined to schedule longer makeup lessons, and may be used fractionally, with any remaining time retained as a balance. Makeup lesson tokens may not be exchanged for cash, credits, refunds, or applied toward programs in which the student is already enrolled.
Students may book makeup lessons with their assigned instructor through the student portal. Makeup lessons with alternate instructors or sibling lesson swaps must be arranged directly through the studio by email or text.
Single, non-recurring lessons may also be scheduled at the studio's current single-lesson rate.
SUBSTITUTE INSTRUCTORS: The Wonder Note reserves the right to provide a qualified substitute instructor when a student's regular teacher is unavailable. In the event a substitute instructor is unavailable and the lesson cannot be rescheduled, the canceled lesson will be credited back to the payment method on file or issued as a makeup lesson at the studio's discretion.
WITHDRAWAL POLICY:
To withdraw from private lessons, written notice must be submitted by email to thewondernote@gmail.com at least seven (7) days prior to the next billing cycle.
Once tuition for a billing period has been processed, refunds will not be issued for unused lessons. Students may either attend their remaining scheduled lessons or cancel them and receive makeup lesson tokens in accordance with the studio's makeup policy.
Upon receipt of a withdrawal notice, the student's lesson time will no longer be reserved and may be offered to students on the studio waitlist.
All unused makeup lesson tokens will be forfeited upon withdrawal from the studio. Families are encouraged to schedule any remaining makeup lessons prior to their final lesson date.
MYMUSICSTAFF PORTAL: All students will be provided with a MyMusicStaff account upon enrollment. This account allows students and families to view lesson schedules, receive lesson reminders, cancel lessons and receive makeup tokens, access teacher notes and assignments, track practice progress, download resources provided by instructors, and receive updates regarding schedule changes, cancellations, or studio announcements.
STUDENT RECORDINGS:
Voice students enrolled in the Student Recording Program will typically receive recordings within one to three weeks following their recording session. While recordings are made throughout the year, editing and distribution occur in batches. Depending on the timing of the recording session, students may receive recordings shortly after completion or within several weeks.
Student recordings include acoustic accompaniment only (piano or guitar). Due to copyright restrictions, commercial backing tracks will not be used. Projects requiring advanced production services, including full-band arrangements, commercial-quality production, or extensive editing, are considered separate studio production projects and are not included in the Student Recording Program.
STUDIO ETIQUETTE: Students generally achieve the greatest level of focus and independence when lessons are conducted privately. However, parents of younger students are welcome to observe lessons when appropriate. We ask that no more than one adult attend a lesson at any given time. For the health and safety of all students and staff, families are asked to reschedule lessons if a student is experiencing cold, flu, or other contagious symptoms.
RECITALS & PERFORMANCES: The Wonder Note hosts a Spring and Winter Recital each year. All students are encouraged (but not required) to participate regardless of age or skill level. Recital participation provides students with valuable performance experience and an opportunity to celebrate their musical growth. Recital fees, when applicable, will vary based on venue costs, production requirements, and event accommodations.
